Susana Januário, PhD in Sociology from the University of Porto - Faculty of Arts and Humanities. She has a degree in Sociology from the same faculty and a master's degree from the University of Coimbra (Faculty of Economics). Almost two decades' experience as a teacher and trainer in higher and secondary education. She teaches at the School of Education of the Polytechnic of Porto and at the School of Sport and Education of the Jean Piaget Polytechnic of the North. She directed the Jean Piaget School of Education in Vila Nova de Gaia/Porto and coordinated the higher courses in Social Education and Sociocultural Animation. Researcher in several research projects, being currently researcher at the Institute of Sociology of the University of Porto. Experience as a consultant in several diagnostic studies and social intervention in several Portuguese municipalities, in the areas of social inclusion, territorial development, qualification needs and combating school failure. She has a special interest in the areas of sociology of culture and art, cultural studies and DIY cultures, development and social cohesion. She has scientific publications, as author and co-author, in these fields
