Sílvia Correia is a professor at the University of Porto. She is a specialist in the Contemporary History of Portugal and Europe, in the conflicts of the 20th century and their cultural effects from a comparative and transnational perspective, and she is interested in the debates on history and memory as well as in critical postcolonial theories of violence. Formerly, she was a professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2013-2022). Sílvia Correia earned her doctorate degree from NOVA University of Lisbon (2011) with a thesis on the politics of memory of the First World War in Portugal. She has held postdoctoral research fellowships at Brown University and NOVA University of Lisbon. She was a Fulbright Research Fellow at Brown University (2011); Directeurs d'Études Associés at Fondation Maison Science de l'Homme (2020); and visiting professor at Freie Universität Berlin - Lateinamerika-Institut (2021).
