On 7 June, the IS-UP Nucleus of the Museum of the Person will open its fourth exhibition "Lives of Resistance and Clandestinity in Porto", which tells the stories of 8 people who lived underground during the period of Fascism.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April, the IS-UP Nucleus of the Museum of the Person gives voice to stories of courage and the fight for democracy, highlighting the commitment of these individuals to political resistance, reading their family and educational backgrounds and personal experiences related to the historical events of the time. Each story, marked by moments of courage, sacrifice and hope, reveals not only the challenges faced during the underground period, but also the resilience and struggle of many others who contributed to building a free and democratic country.
The inauguration will also include a gathering of anti-fascist resistance fighters and IS-UP researchers, so we invite all those interested to take part in a collective reflection on the different narratives of courage and fight for democracy.
The narratives will also be made available on the online platform of the Museu da Pessoa and on IS-UP's Youtube, creating a permanent record accessible to future generations, offering a unique and inspiring understanding of the past, while leaving fundamental clues for the present and future of our country.
The exhibition will be open from 7 June to 30 August at the Casa dos Livros (Rua do Campo Alegre, 1055 - 4150-181 Porto), from Monday to Friday between 14:30 and 17:30.
