Following the success of the 1st ATPD Human Rights Academy (2023), we share information about the second edition of this project:
II ATPD Human Rights Academy - The Village that Knows How to Grow Old
This ATPD project is an academy for young university students taking place in Trás-os-Montes, on the theme of human rights in all its fullness. It is a mixed model of a research, sharing, work and learning school for students, aimed at producing and disseminating knowledge on issues related to human rights in order to formulate recommendations for action in the future, energising the territories of Trás-os-Montes.
The second edition, called "The Village that Knows How to Age", will take place between 9 and 15 September in the village of Samões, Vila Flor. The main objectives are: to develop a diagnosis of the social and housing conditions of the village's older inhabitants; to suggest measures for adapting the dwellings identified; to promote dynamics and sharing on ageing and human rights and to promote contact and publicise existing support solutions.
This year's event is aimed at Masters students from any part of the country, in the fields of sociology, psychology, social education, design or architecture. There will also be vacancies for university students living in the municipality of Vila Flor. During the Academy, the students will be accompanied by lecturers/researchers from the Institute of Sociology of the University of Porto (IS-UP) and the Landscapes, Heritage and Territory Laboratory of the University of Minho. The initiative is supported by IS-UP, Vila Flor Town Council and Samões Parish Council.
