One has to critically question and deconstruct assumptions traditionally shared by musicians about how certain characteristics of instrumentalists' bodies and the design and materiality of musical instruments are irreparable "limitations" to musical performance.
The conscious revelation of these phenomena (representational, material and practical) as psycho-socio-culturally constructed is crucial to overcome obstacles to teaching, learning and musical performance, and thus constraints on the musical and professional development of musicians and music students.
