The Institute of Sociology of the University of Porto, in collaboration with the CCIF/UMAR, invites all women to take part in an exhibition that seeks to interpret the "Novas Cartas Portuguesas", an iconic literary work of feminism, written by the "three Marias": Maria Isabel Barreno, Maria Teresa Horta and Maria Velho da Costa.
📸 Your Voice, Your Photograph: Capturing the intersectional nuances of the contemporary female experience
Inspired by the 50th anniversary of the 25 April Revolution and Ana Luísa Amaral's legacy, by proposing to revisit her work through the New Portuguese Letters Three Decades Later edition, we seek to explore the question: What does it mean to be a woman in Portuguese society today? We invite you to take one to three photographs depicting your experiences, daily life and challenges.
The exhibition will seek to reinterpret the essence of the "New Portuguese Letters" in current language, incorporating the photographs submitted. We want to create a space for dialogue and reflection on the contemporary experience of women in Portugal, taking into account intersections of class, ethnicity, nationality, etc.
🗓️ How to take part:
Capture: Take 1 to 3 photographs that represent your experience as a woman in 2024;
Submit: Submit your photos via email: comunicacaoisup@gmail.com
Participate: Be part of this dialogue about women in Portuguese society.
